Visit Seattle, PB& and NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations Creative Studio partnered to create this unique video series promoting Seattle’s Museum Month. The series launched in January 2017 and was promoted natively across the NBC Owned Station Sites and was amplified through a series of standard and rich media units.

Challenge

While museums are one of the most popular ways to spend time on vacation (there are 850 million visits to American museums each year), it turns out many visitors don’t like them all that much. Why? Because most museums offer a staid, passive and one-dimensional experience. But in a world of “no touching” and “inside voices” Seattle invites people to feel, play, interact, make, fly, climb, sing, listen, talk, ask and wonder.

Create a content series that invites people to come play at our museums. Timing: Winter/Spring 2017 (January – April)

Solution

Produce a candid video series that disrupts and recalibrates our notion of the museum experience by pairing unsuspecting visitors with local Seattle children as they lead them through their favorite features at museums like Mohai, The Museum of Flight, The Burke, MoPOP, Wing Luke and the Seattle Art Museum. Through them, the museums, their creativity and their stories come alive in a way only kids can often see.

The series is fun, engaging and, yes, very, very cute.
